ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS

Brazil, the ultimate kiting destination, famous for its steady winds and extensive coastline, never seizes to amaze and fulfill kiters’ hearts with joy. As most people choose to stay around Cumbuco, we set sail in a place less visited, with great kiting conditions.

In search of the most perfect place for our kitesurf camp in Brazil, Lagoinha is our top choice. The variety of conditions we can enjoy here make this camp possibly the most complete, and in addition, it is all set in a breathtaking postcard like scenery.

Still keeping its authenticity, this small, lovely village, where life is sweet and pleasant, sits on a cliff reaching one of highest points on the coastline of Ceara.

Plenty of space on the water will give you that extra confidence in trying new things – in flat or waves, and when travelling down-wind to other spots with the support of your dedicated professional coaches who will teach, coach and guide you at and around Lagoinha.

We have also chosen the best accommodation with quality service, impeccable hospitality and great atmosphere.

THE SPOT

Kiting in Lagoinha is fantastic – nice wave spots, beach breaks, and great flat water lagoon 3km downwind. Truly a complete menu of different conditions, all at their best, never crowded, and accompanied by perfect steady wind, which blows 18-26 knots, side-on all day in weather conditions of 25-27°C ocean and 26-32°C air temperature.

The kite beach is wide and sandy with lots of space to organize the gear in a cultural setting – Lagoinha is a popular day destination for Brazilians.

ACCOMODATION

We choose to stay at Pousada do Sol, because of its great location, close to the beach and the main square, impeccable hospitality and cozy atmosphere.

Their clean rooms feature a TV, fridge, and an air-conditioner. Enric, the proud and artistic owner, takes care of charming details.

Delicious breakfast is served on their garden terrace.

You will feel as at home in this pousada, offering superb comfort and service. Their restaurant has a pleasant Brazilian vibe, where you can taste great dishes, and top notch caipirinhas. There is even a swimming pool for you to relax in, after a great windy day.

TRAVEL INFO

Flights connections

If arriving from the USA you will need to fly to Fortaleza via Sao Paolo or Rio de Janeiro, and flying from European cities with TAP Portugal via Lisbon (costs can vary 700-900 €). In order to save money and fly comfortably, plan ahead and check your options. We will be happy to help in finding the best solution.

Travel documents

Brazil follows a reciprocal visa system, so if Brazilian nationals need a visa to enter your country, it will be necessary for you to have a visa to enter Brazil.

At the time of writing, visas are not required for nationals of EU countries for stays of up to 90 days. Nationals of Australia, Canada and the USA need visas. When in doubt please check with the Brazilian consulate in your country. All travelers must be in possession of onward or return tickets. Make sure you have least 6 valid months left in your passport.

Money
Outside of Fortaleza it is difficult to withdraw money, so it is advisable to get Brazilian reals preferably in the comfort of your home country before arrival or at Fortaleza airport. There are no ATMs in Lagoinha. To withdraw you need to go to Paraipaba, a nearby village.
Kite equipment

7m, 9m and 11m kites should cover your needs, for a lightweight or female riders, kites should be one or two sizes smaller.Don’t forget a surf board, if it forms part of your collection.

High sun factor and sunblock for the lips are essential, which is not the case for neoprene. We, however, prefer a shorty or a thin neoprene jacket to a lycra, as even though the ocean and air temperatures are high, it can get a bit chilly after spending many hours on water in the company of strong winds. The choice is yours.

Voltage and internet connection

Standard European plugins.

Besides free wi-fi on the square up to two hours daily, there are two internet cafés. Most pousadas offer wi-fi connection free of charge. Do not expect high speed internet here.

Food and beverage

Expect to spend around 20 € per day for meals.

Small bars and restaurants around the square offer snacks, skewers, pastel and the typical «arroz e feijao» (rice and beans), caipirinhas etc. at very affordable prices.

If you are looking for a nice dinner out, Pousada do Sol has a great restaurant, where one portion feeds two people, as well as Viva Mar at the beach.

You will find açaí, a delicious tropical fruit snack, at Kite Point at the beach, or Book Café inside the pousada Mar A Vista.
